No Replacement For a Valuable  Early Childhood Education!

It is uncanny how so many individuals throughout our society fail to appreciate the full import of a quality and exceptionally well directed education for our smallest of children.  It is particularly disturbing when we see policy makers use education as a pawn in the larger political landscape.  Yet it happens and often childhood education which is inclusive of all aspects of emotional, physical, psychological, and cognitive learning, takes a back seat to the larger theatrical production that occurs at both the state and national levels.  We certainly try to avoid harping on this reality, but unfortunately it cannot be ignored when teachers of our young children are not given the fullest support.  But the one thing that current and future teachers can impact directly is their preparation for teaching these beautiful children.  Early chilhood education is a multi-dimensional field of study consisting of many disciplines that is learned in either a classroom type of setting and experiences that are acquired in the field.  And as with any discipline, the content is always evolving as newer practices and techniques are discovered.  In that regard, we are seeing even more teachers returning  to the university setting to supplement their previous learnings.  To the extent that our future educators will play the most significant factor in the successful development of our early aged children, there is a need to provide information that can help the individual to both realize the unique importance of this field to our society and help them grasp some of the reasons why that is true; while helping provide a framework of information thus allowing these individuals to make a choice on where they will focus their career.
